Armed robbers targeted an unmarked van carrying cash from video gambling machines in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, making off with $400,000. The van, servicing Pa Amusements, was attacked outside the Spot Laundromat at the Southgate Mall, marking a bold move as it carried out its routine collection from various locations including Greencastle and Waynesboro.

The incident unfolded just after noon on Monday when the security guard, in the process of collecting cash boxes, was assaulted by one of the robbers who struck him on the head and confiscated his weapon.

The criminals, who wielded firearms, swiftly grabbed several cash bins from the van before escaping in a smaller white van, leaving behind a trail of empty cash boxes and cases found discarded outside Chambersburg.

Chambersburg Police, in their effort to apprehend the culprits, released CCTV footage showcasing three armed suspects, masked and hooded, and the getaway van with a Pennsylvania license plate ZGY4417. Although the police remain tight-lipped about the total amount stolen, it’s confirmed that $400,000 was taken.

A similar event occurred on 7th March, when a mean stole $700,000 from a casino.

The manner in which the robbers pinpointed the unmarked van remains a mystery, raising suspicions of potential insider involvement, a theory not yet confirmed by law enforcement.

As the search intensifies, state police speculate the robbers may have fled to Adams or Cumberland counties or possibly crossed into nearby Maryland. With the investigation ongoing, the police endeavor to piece together this audacious robbery, carried out in broad daylight by a group of bold thieves, leaving the community in shock over the brazen nature of the crime.
