Rhode Island Becomes the Seventh US iGaming State

In a pioneering move for the digital gaming landscape, Rhode Island has officially become the seventh state in the United States to launch regulated iGaming, thanks to Bally’s Corporation’s rollout of its new online casino platform.

This significant development places Rhode Island at the forefront of the competitive gaming industry, offering players across the state the opportunity to engage in online slots and table games through desktop and iOS mobile applications.

The Bally Casino Rhode Island iGaming platform went live following a meticulously conducted four-day technical trial period that began on March 1, signifying a new era in the state’s gaming sector. Craig Eaton, President of Bally’s Rhode Island Operations, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, attributing its success to a collaborative effort with the General Assembly, Governor McKee, and regulatory bodies.

This initiative is designed to bolster state revenue and solidify Rhode Island’s competitive stance in the New England gaming market.

With about 170 slot games and live dealer table games such as blackjack and roulette now accessible, this venture into online gaming is set to revolutionize the entertainment landscape in Rhode Island. Bally’s has not only partnered with Stakelogic for live dealer and table games software but also with White Hat Gaming for the PAM iGaming platform, ensuring a diverse and high-quality gaming experience.

Senate President Dominick Ruggerio and Speaker of the House of Representatives K. Joseph Shekarchi have both lauded the initiative, highlighting its potential to maintain Rhode Island’s edge in the gaming industry while also providing valuable revenue for the state. They also underscored the benefits for the local workforce, with new job opportunities and partnerships with educational institutions like CCRI to train Rhode Islanders for careers in gaming and hospitality.

This strategic move into iGaming comes at a crucial time, with Rhode Island’s sports betting figures showing a decline. The launch is expected not only to invigorate the state’s gaming sector but also to offer a fresh revenue stream.

The operation of iGaming will be under the strict regulatory watch of the Rhode Island Division of the Lottery, ensuring a secure and responsible gaming environment. Additionally, Bally’s commitment to responsible gaming is evident in its funding initiatives for problem gambling prevention and treatment programs.

Rhode Island’s venture into iGaming is more than just an expansion of its gaming portfolio; it’s a step towards a future where digital gaming plays a pivotal role in entertainment and state economics. As the sole operator, Bally’s and its gaming supplier IGT are poised to deliver a unique gaming experience, emphasizing the state’s innovative approach to digital entertainment. This launch not only marks a significant milestone for Rhode Island but also sets a precedent for other states contemplating the legalization of online casino gaming.
