Chumba Casino Leaves Michigan
The self-proclaimed American number 1 social casino, which started operating in 2017, exits Michigan state. Chumba is a renowned social casino by VGW Malta Limited. It is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) under permit number MGA/B2C/188/2010.
The social casino hosts a wide range of casino-style games, including top-tier slots and blackjack games by Betsoft and Nucleus Gaming. Sadly, Chumba Casino will no longer offer its first-class services to Michigan State dwellers as it leaves the region after a crackdown.

No More Chumba Casino in Michigan State
Chumba will no longer offer its social casino services to players in Michigan. The social casino with over 150 games started notifying its users in Michigan about its expected exit as early as 24th October 2023.
In a statement, Virtual Gaming Worlds, popularly known as VGW, confirmed their exit. They went ahead to mention that they took the course of action after evaluating the operation of the business in the interest of their stakeholders. The announcement came shortly after Dana Nessel, Michigan’s attorney general, ordered the closure of Golden Hearts Games in the state.
Other affected social casinos include Chumba’s sister sites, Luckyland and Global Poker. With this tall order, Michigan joins Washington and Idaho on the list of states that do not accept Chumba Casino services.
Chumba Casino’s Exit Strategy from The Michigan Market
The social casino is set to exit the Michigan market gradually as opposed to shutting down its operations at once. First, Chumba Casino will stop selling Gold Coins, which players purchase and use to play games online.
In December 2023, Chumba will close operations, and by February, players should have redeemed their Sweeps Coins. SC or Sweeps Coins are special tokens earned at the social casino which players can redeem for real prizes. Unlike Gold Coins, you cannot purchase Sweeps Coins at Chumba Casino. Instead, you can only earn them as prizes when registering for an account.
Once the redemption exercise is lifted, players in Michigan will not be able to access the gaming site. Every member should redeem their Sweeps Coins within the stipulated time frame. The phased exodus aims to help users swiftly make arrangements for the site’s termination.
In a Nutshell
After having a remarkable run in Michigan State, Chumba Casino will be making a phased exit to honor the directives of the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Chumba, which is under the Umbrella of Virtual Gaming Worlds or VGW, will stop accepting Gold Coins purchases. By 1st December, it will not be processing Mail-in requests. A complete departure will follow this, which, according to the owner and operator, is for the benefit of the shareholders.
