Potawatomi Casino Unveils New Sportsbook and Poker Room

The Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee is gearing up for a significant milestone with the grand opening of its new retail sportsbook and poker room on May 3, 2024. This event marks the completion of the casino’s ambitious $190 million renovation project, introducing a Las Vegas-style sportsbook and a 14-table poker room to its patrons. Situated on the first level, these new venues replace the space once occupied by the Northern Lights Theater, offering a modern and engaging gaming experience.

Dominic Ortiz, CEO of Potawatomi Casino Hotel, expressed his excitement about the unveiling, highlighting the anticipated arrival of these facilities. “The city has been asking; they’ve all been waiting for poker to come back,” Ortiz remarked, acknowledging the high expectations from Milwaukee residents and visitors alike. The sportsbook and poker room are set to elevate the casino’s gaming atmosphere, promising an unmatched entertainment experience.

The poker room will feature a range of games, including 1-3 No Limit, 2-5 No Limit, and Pot Limit Omaha (PLO), along with enticing promotions such as Hourly High Hand Jackpots and Bad Beat Jackpot. Both the poker room and the sportsbook will benefit from shared food and beverage services, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The sportsbook itself is a marvel of modern design, sprawling over 6,500 square feet with a two-floor layout that includes a mammoth 2,000 square foot LED screen, a broadcast booth with a professional quality 3-camera system, and over 20 TVs, some as large as 98 inches.

The venue can accommodate over 200 guests, featuring kiosks and ticket writers to facilitate betting. With 48 beers on tap, including the exclusive Dealers Choice Potawatomi Pilsner brewed in collaboration with City Lights Brewing Co., the sportsbook offers a rich selection of refreshments to its guests.

Sean Cullen, director of the sportsbook, confidently stated, “There is not a retail betting space outside of Las Vegas that can compete with the high-end venue we’re unveiling on May 3.” He further emphasized the sportsbook’s potential to transform Potawatomi into a premier travel destination in the Midwest, bolstered by its current ranking as number two in the country for gross gaming revenue among publicly reporting sportsbooks.

This significant development follows the earlier implementation of the IGT Advantage casino management system at Potawatomi’s Carter location and the expansion into legal sports betting in 2022, aligning with Wisconsin’s broader efforts to provide regulated gambling options.

The opening of these new venues is not just the culmination of Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s extensive renovation but also a pivotal moment that reflects the establishment’s commitment to enhancing the gaming experience for its guests. With these additions, Potawatomi not only aims to meet the growing demand for diverse and sophisticated gaming options but also to solidify its position as a leading entertainment and gaming destination in the Midwest.
